Since I was never home for May Day – which is a sort of American Labor Day – I decided that this year I should go to the beach with my friends.
It is fair to say that the main attraction, at least for my group of amigos was the brunch party at Loft Mamaia for three days in a row- I must admit I haven’t had so much fun in a long time. I have been to brunch parties before, but this was more of a social gathering of interesting characters (with some exceptions) and it was nice to watch them all having fun and getting drunk.
We ate well but didn’t get too much rest. We drank gallons of rose wine, as we were dancing in the spring breeze, getting tipsy by the time sun was setting.
We lived those moments joyously and I think that’s the main reason for the entertaining time we had. The booze too, obviously.
And I remember a quotation by Hunter S. Thompson which sums up my trip perfectly:
It was a greedy life and I was good at it. I made some interesting friends, had enough money to get around, and learned a lot about the world that I could never have learned in any other way. Like most of the others, I was a seeker, a mover, a malcontent, and at times a stupid hell-raiser.
I wish I had fallen in love on that beach, but I remembered I am forever in love with the sea and that makes it up somehow. I wish I had a more fascinating story to tell about this holiday, but the great feeling that I have now is a story good enough for myself.
On the last day, when everyone was going home, I went with a few friends to Vama Veche to relax before coming back to the concrete jungle. We walked on the beach and then we sat on the sand in the quietness of the wind and watched the blue Black Sea.
We made a barbecue for dinner and as I was lighting up the fire I sniffed the smell of burning wood and got lost in my thoughts while watching the flames.
At night we went on the beach again and gazed at the stars. And just when I was wondering how small and insignificant I am in this Universe I saw thunders over the horizon and told myself that sometimes is wiser not to inquire about some things and continued to watch the mesmerizing view.
After that we went to bed. I slept well and had an amazing dream. It was cold when I woke up and I just wanted to cover myself with the blanket and look out on the french window in my room and… keep on dreaming with my eyes open.
