This morning was exactly how I have imagined it last night before I went to bed. I woke up at 10am, pulled the curtains and saw a bright beautiful sun. When I opened the window I felt the cold air coming in and that was really refreshing. So I decided that while I’m drinking my cup of coffee I should write about Tom Haugomat, or better said, about his terrific illustrations.
I find his design simple yet profound and it looks like he catches scenes from an ordinary lifestyle effortlessly.
The paralyzed metropolis (maybe Paris, where the illustrator is based) in the winter is an idea that I strongly empathize with.
A father and son expedition:
The cottage in the mountains reminds me somehow of Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, The Shining.
This last one makes me think of adventure and of one of my favorite novels from when I was a kid, Ciresarii.
Tom Haugomat’s great work is expressive, realistic and it persuades you to indulge in reminiscence. It is therefore perfect for a laid-back Saturday morning.
