I know it’s a bit last minute, but I decided to write this post nevertheless because I went through this thought & decision making process myself.
Of course it’s ideal that if you’re going to spend the night between the years in Romania , it’s better to be somewhere in the mountains or in a fairy-tale like landscape in Bucovina or Maramureș. Out of all the previous times when I was home for this occasion in the last 8 years or so, I was, without exception, elsewhere than in the capital. But sometimes it just happens that you can’t leave, or you haven’t planned anything, or who knows what else and you have to make the best decision for the New Year’s Eve party.
So this is my shortlist for the coolest places to spend NYE at if you happen to be in Bucharest.
But before starting off, I would like to mention that there are two types of places you can go: restaurants, where you’re seated and it’s more of chilled vibe, where people are chatting and drinking wine and eating good food and the clubs – where, well, you know what’s going on there – the food is buffet but you go mainly to dance, to have fun, take shots and enjoy the music & the time spent with your friends.
Restaurants:
NOA Restoclub
I am very fond of this place and have spent many beautiful evenings with friends here. Therefore, I might be a bit biased when recommending this but the the truth is that the food and the service never disappointed.
More than that, their menu looks absolutely fabulous, with stuff like Vitello Tonatto, Burrata with pomegranate sauce for first course, sushi – as second course, Argentinian Rib-Eye and Lamb Skewers for main and much much more – check out their Facebook page for details.
Chef’s Experience
I have been to one of their ‘pregame’ parties on a Saturday and it was a good atmosphere. So I’m guessing this will be more a hybrid between the two options I’ve mentioned – part restaurant, part club – with louder music and more fun overall. The food will be a buffet and so the price is slightly cheaper than the rest.
The cool thing about this restaurant is that you can order traditional food for the Christmas table online if you follow this link.
La Cantine de Nicolai
We’re going a bit next level here – this French restaurant is recognized for extremely tasty dishes and artsy decors. Therefore, the price is set accordingly – 700 lei, but given the menu, I think it would be worth it if you’re a gourmet.
Clubs
Gaia Boutique Club
You haven’t been out in Bucharest if you’ve never been to Gaia. What I can say is that FUN is guaranteed. 400 lei at the bar (open bar + open buffet) and 600 lei/person if you want a table (premium drinks included) – so great value for the money!

Nuit Sociale – A l’Opéra
This event is very likely to be a great party, partly thanks to the superb location – the National Opera of Bucharest, and partly thanks to the knowledge of the organizers, who are becoming better and better with each “incognito” party that they’re throwing. Open bar ☆ Gourmet buffet for 670 lei / person.
Fratelli
Another great option where fun is part of the game. Aaand if I’m not mistaken, Fratelli has been awarded the best Catering group at Horeca Insight Awards this year so the food will be really good. Book a table if you’re in for the club experience on NYE, you can’t really go wrong.
This is it! My list of cool places in Bucharest where I am considering spending the New Year’s Eve. However, it doesn’t really matter where you go as long as you’re in good company and you have a bottle of champagne to pop open at midnight.
